One month ago today, I posted a reflection on Causeway Living’s 5th Anniversary (and my 34th Birthday), coupled with a photo, showing a literal reflection of the sun going down on the water at Crawfordsburn. Today, I’m choosing to share a picture of the sun rising at same beach this morning. There’s an interesting juxtaposition between the two photos: one anonymous at sunset, the other in my full expression at sunrise. It’s poetically fitting to my personal journey the past month.
In last month’s post about the sun setting on half a decade of Causeway Living, I shared the following words: “After the darkness, follows the light. I’m looking forward to a new dawn for Causeway Living… I’m not sure what that will look like, but one thing I’m certain of is launching The Causeway Living Podcast.” Well, that took less than a month to come to fruition. Another big change has been choosing to step up to the front of Causeway Living once again, and being the face of the brand.
Over a year ago, I decided to step back a little from Causeway Living. From Day 1, it had been very personal, but I felt the lines between Scott Riley and Causeway Living had become blurred. It was important for me to reclaim my own identity and authenticity, having partly lost myself in the ‘story’ created around the brand. After a lot of inner work with some amazing coaches and therapists, I feel ready to step back out and do a lot of the same things I did in the past, but from a different place.
THE PODCAST
I touch on the theme of identity, our stories, and authentic expression towards the end of the latest episode of the podcast, released today. Since the last blog post, I’ve released two episodes, entitled, “New Beginnings” parts 1 & 2. In part 1, I share my personal story from childhood, through my early twenties and diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, as well as the series of events that lead to recovering my health. In part 2, you can listen to the story of Causeway Living and what to expect coming soon.
You can get a feel for the podcast in a 1-minute clip above, or listen to the full episodes at all the usual places you’d expect to find podcasts, linked below. If you want to support the podcast or leave feedback, head on over to CausewayLiving.com/podcast to learn how you can do so.
If this blog post and two new episodes of the podcast aren’t enough Causeway Living for you, keep an eye on Instagram stories for daily outdoor adventures. As I mentioned, I’ve decided to share more of my personal, ongoing adventure as it happens, and Instagram stories are a great outlet for my authentic expression. I aim to share the interesting nature I come across; wild animals, interesting trees, sunrises and sunsets, as well as a peculiar amount of heart shaped rocks I stumble across.
If you’re wondering where the book fits into all of this, it’s still very much a work in progress. I’m still working on acceptance that it’s unlikely to be out by Christmas at this stage, but a decision will be made on that in the very near future, and any news will be shared in a brand new blog post. Until then, stay in touch by listening to the podcast, leaving feedback on CausewayLiving.com/podcast, or by following the Instagram stories for all the very latest Causeway Living fun and adventures.
